Fun post. What’s the largest lure you have caught mackerel with
My personally is a 8oz Shimano flat fall. Saw a school of fish on the fish finder in 180’ and dropped pulled up about 4 mackerel before drifting off the school.

Probably my Tady 4/0 iron casting on kelp paddies south of the islands! Got one on my 4/0 yo-yo jig last weekend at Dana Point actually now that I think about it. Mackerel are not very smart fish... lol

I have a long knife like slow pitch jig that's about 10" long and weighs 200g (7oz). Last year I was dropping it into bait balls for game fish, I quickly learned how ineffective it was for big fish when mackerel are around. I was pulling up 4 at a time, 1 on each of the 4 assist hooks.
