Trout fishing + Camping in the winter?

Hey all,

I was hoping for a bit of advice....
I had a great first trip up to June loop earlier this year (thanks for all of the regular reports and info Saba)

I was just chatting with my buddy at my local bait shop about good trout spots (lake or river) and he was saying up near five bridges has been getting really good catch reports following a massive stocking up there.

I'm still really ignorant to good spots near Bishop/Sierras and understand pretty much any camping spots are closed for the season at this point.

My wife's only real complaint about Silver Lake was how RV-friendly and heavily populated it was (I think our neighbors had a giant flatscreen tv setup with an outdoor living room to watch football), as she prefers either tent-only or hike-in camping in more thickly wooded areas.

I'll fish anywhere, but anyone with a ring on their finger knows there are priorities to consider.

I'd say a good example of what I'm looking for would be something like Limekiln up in Big Sur, but freshwater... That place is awesome, but I'm not too inclined to launch a kayak by myself up there.

Does anyone have any recommendations around cabins/tent camping during the winter months with nearby trout/salmon fishing in mind? I had a pretty good experience at Big Bear this past spring, but I'm looking a bit more off the beaten path.

Also interested in these types of places. I’ll keep eyes on this thread.
I’ve been thinking about trying this place out for some time now but haven’t had the chance or excuse to do so yet.

I also explored silver lake a few times after reading Saba’s stories and would like to do some winter trout fishing. Have been planning to look into the SD county lakes and would appreciate any guidance for the community.

Closed to watercraft and camping. Open for shore fishing. My point is that you don't need a secluded spot to find good winter trout fishing w/ camping.

Thanks for the share! this looks really interesting, and from a bit of research it looks like there's a ton of good hiking in the area.
