PA14 storage problem!
so im moving into an apartment soon and will habe a small one car garage that i need to park a car in and store my pa14. Wont have enough room to lay in flat on the ground. If i cant do a pulley system from the ceiling i was thinking of storing ir on its side with a ton of foam padding to support as much of the hull as possible. Anyone have this problem or any insight?

On it's side shouldn't be an issue so long as its fully supported and its somewhat temp controlled...

not recommended
its not gonna matter how much foam you put under the side of the kayak. I dented the side of an outback laying it on its side in a hot garage. with a PA, the problem will be compounded because of its sheer weight and size. this technique is not recommended for any Hobie. you can confirm that with any dealer or the manufacturer. hanging with straps and pulleys would be a better option if clearance of vehicle roof top is not an issue. hope this information helps.

upright
A PA on it's side is no Bueno...especially in the heat of a So Cal garage in the summer.
If you have the space you can store your PA upright... Most of the dealers and and the Hobie warehouse in Oceanside use this space saving method.

Amazon is your friend - crank it up to the ceiling and park under it like I do.

Since you would have to secure this using the Beams in the ceiling, you will only need to make 4 holes. When it comes time to move, just throw some Spackle or drywall mud in the holes, and no one will notice.

Since you can't (aren't supposed to) drill holes in the ceiling how about building a free standing rack that would store your yak above the car but not need any holes drilled. Just throwing it out as an option. It would work if you have the clearance above your car for the hoist.

I think one of the renters rules is never ask a landlord if you can drill holes in their ceiling. This is something you just do, then patch it up when you leave.

This is my bigtuna14 in a super small garage jammed with an fj cruiser only cradled twice. 3 years like that not one problem I’m gonna get a pa14 eventually and it will be right below the Jackson same way maybe cradled 4 times.

Theres no exposed beams its all drywall. Might ne able build a stand to get the yak above the cat a little bit as long as i can make it narrow enough amd stable
