Knot question - SD Jam on heavy flouro
I tend to tie Palomar unless I can’t slip the loop over what I’m tying, then I use a 2x or single sd jam. When I get above 40lb, I notice the loop above the pinch gets cinched down on before going 100% tight, and I’m stuck with an ugly knot that makes me nervous. Not every time... maybe 30% of the time. Never had it fail that I could tell...
I try to put equal pressure on tag and line when cinching, with a bit of extra on the line. Anybody run into this? Is there a better knot for heavy flouro? It my technique just shyte, and I’m getting away with it on lighter line? Should I even worry about it? Last edited by ProfessorLongArms; 03-29-2018 at 06:37 PM. |

I would say it's your technique. Your SD jam knot should look nice and even and pretty.

Don't know if you went to the Fred Hall show, but the two ladies that run the Izor Line knot testing machine could watch you tie your knot, test it and tell you exactly what you did right or wrong. They are both a wealth of knowledge. I've seen a lot of know-it-all's get humbled by their knot machine.
