Radar 135 Flex Pod with Lowrance Totalscan Transducer
Hey all, I'm just posting this so that the next guy looking for info on this subject can maybe find it. I could not find anything online about whether or not this combo would work together. A seen in the pictures the totalscan is a fairly large transducer and I was concerned it wouldn't fit in the space.
So, I had an older model lowrance totalscan transducer that is being paired with a B&G Vulcan 5 chart plotter/fishfinder. The B&G Vulcan series is the same stuff as Simrad's Go Series. I've had the Vulcan 5 laying around for over a year as it was originally intended for a second display on my sailboat and I just never installed it. The older model of this transducer has a fairly short mount when compared to the newer models. It's definitely a tight fit. In the end the transducer does just barely fit. I haven't got it on the water yet to fully confirm but I think it should work just fine. The transducer is not "perfectly level" with the bottom of the kayak and if you needed to make that happen you would need the newer version of the transducer or some type of extension to mount between the transducer and the flex pod. The newer version of the transducer definitely looks like it would work with out any issues. The mount on the newer version has about three inches between the pod and the transducer. I actually saw a flex pod with one on it that OEX MB was working on for someone in the recent past and it looks good to me. Attached are the pictures. |
