Launch 500 to half foot surf lapping at your ankles.

Agreed. I was out Saturday from 6:30-14:00 and didn't catch any bait, neither macs nor sardines. Tried both sides of the pier first, then all the way to the north edge of the reserve, then back to the edge of the reserve by the cove. Nada. Lots of little lizard fish. Yup agreed I'd say less than 5% of my fish I have seen on my FF.
