Anyone use portable fishfinder/gps combos with maps
I am looking for a self-contained sonar/GPS unit that is portable and comes inside of those black zippable case-with GPS and the maps and charts on it (not just the simple waypoints). I'm not sure if I am describing it correctly..
Also I am hoping these come with a suction cup. Does anyone use these and can you recommend a model? Thanks all!! Jon |

It sounds like you may be describing one of the portable ice fishing packages. I know Garmin makes them, but I cannot tell you much more.

I don't think an Ice Machine is the answer. Try mounting the Fish Finder you choose on a Yakattack Cell Block and attach a Ram mount transducer arm to it to hold the transducer over the side an in the water. It ask attaches to a Yakattack Gear Track, that makes it self contained and portable to use on more than 1 kayak. I had a Jackson Cuda 14 that had that setup with a Raymarine Dragonfly 4.7" FF. Here is a link to the Cell Block at OEX http://www.kayakfishingsupplies.com/...m-by-yakattack

Or do what I did on quite a few of my yaks. Mad Frog Gear Liberator with a TDA mounted on a rail. Battery in a dry bag in the footwell. Obviously, not the greatest solution if you do a lot of surf launches. But, works great for normal launches.

Garmin Striker 4 has an Ice setup that would work. They are cheap too.
