Fishfinder help

Hey guys,

Looking to get a fish finder and I cant seem to make up my mind. What you you get with a 250ish budget? Also, do you need a special box for the battery or are they water proof? Im sure this has been asked before but couldnt find anything haha

A waterproof case would help unless you use a bunch if dielectric grease at the terminals.

Cheapest option out there.

Or go with a Pelican box.

Lowrance hook 4. A little out of your budget, but it's color and has gps. Well worth having color and gps. I used to figure color didn't matter as i'm color blind and only fish bass. Boy was I wrong. And GPS is a huge help too.

The batteries we use are already waterproof on their own... no need to put a sealed box into another sealed box. You just need to protect the connections.

I put mine in one of my kids old insulated lunchbags. Protects the connections and provides padding for the battery sliding around. Might have an extra or two if you want to come to fullerton for one

Check the various sites and wait for the sales and you can pick up ones in your range. I picked up a Garmin Echomap 44DV for 199 at West Marine after watching 3 to 4 months for it to drop, and it has been great. Standard and down vue modes, gps with detailed coastal charts built in and good battery life.
