Oceanside Harbor Skunk 9/18

Launched at the guest docks around ish, headed to a few rock piles in the harbor, slow trolled some squid and frozen sardine around the inside and the bait barge all for Nada. Guy at the bait barge said it's been really slow this month and that all the sea lions came in and scared everything off. Saw a few marks on the ff close to the west break wall but they weren't interested in anything. Off the water at 1130.

Thanks for the report. Haven't launched/fished out of O'side yet but plan to one day.

Wondering if there are spotties/calicos around the boat docks and structure like Newport and Dana Pt.

Thanks for posting. Haven't been to oside in about a year and it was tough catching, so good to know.

Been itching to go out fishing, just need to find the time. I'm having dreams of pulling on a big Bonito, yellow or halibut lately.

Oside

I was walking the harbor Sunday and passed by a guy Fishing right behind the bait barge from shore. He had 80 quart ice chest turned into a XXL bait tank with 6" to 8" sardines and a few macs in it. They looked super Healthy, anyway he had 3 keeper halibut s he had caught right from his camp spot at the bait barge. When asked he said' I usually do pretty good right here' with live bait.

Right?

I've been hanging there for a few years always with artificial baits and not much to show for it! I think some nice baby macs might be in order!!
