La Jolla = no bait 9/5
Launched at grey light alongside my brother. We were both hung over and seriously questioning heading out. Once we made it out a nice swell came in which didn't help with the nausea. Tried making bait for a good hour +. I even made my own chum line (threw up) and still no bait! Between us managed 1 bonito and 3 calicos on the sabikis.
Decided to move on and try our luck with the artificial stuff. I managed 1 bonito on the flatfall and a couple small calicos on some swimbaits. Brother managed a few rock fish and calicos fishing the bottom and trowing the colt sniper to salvage the day. They can't all be keepers We were both yellow, feeling like sh*t and laughing at each other on how sick we looked and still out there fishing lol. Decided to call it a day around 9am. Great day on the water. Side note: I'll be moving out of State in a few months and will be posting my 2016 PA for sale today if anyone is interested. |

I haven't seen yt boiling in LJ since June so bait might be the only way to get any consistent bite. After that dropping a heavy iron or flat fall on marks or trolling a plug or large swim bait might be the way to go. Mike
