LA/OC Surf launch to practice?

So a search on our forums did not yield what I was looking for and last few launch posts are from 2012 lol. But Im new to Kayak and (real) fishing and want to practice surf launching so I am ready when experience permits to hit LJ hopefully by summer's end. So where can I go out and practice with no gear? I've watched youtube vids reading and have been body surfing and bodyboarding Newport and HB for over 30 years so I not clueless when it comes to waves. But where can I launch for practice? I've already taken yak to HB harbor and pulled in a few Calico and really pumped so Im going out this Sunday to HB or Newport but would like to try tackling on some small surf since Im at the beach already. Thanks guys.

Lunch at 22nd street in HB, or Bosa Chicha. Go hit rollers. Then step up form there. 1-2, then 3-5 54th street in Newps.

Thanks Stix, I thought about launching near dog beach as I don't recall many surfers, swimmers there. I'll check that out not sure about Bolsa as that's a haul from parking to water.

If you pay for parking at Bolsa Chica, the surf is very close to the parking lot in certain spots.

Thanks Guys...I was hoping to try it but my back is hurting and don't want to risk further injury. Just gonna go fish Newport Harbor tomorrow, but will try practicing soon.
