Dragon

Smorgasbord out there this weekend and not easy to get bit. Buddy did get a small mako to the boat to a quick release. Rocking the bottoms and got a short Ling under 17in. Around 200ft. Then came up big with this legal a first for me from the yak . (sardines flat fall)

Nice! Are lingcod hard to come by in SD? I'm moving to Carlsbad from the SF Bay Area where I primarily fish for lingcod and rockfish. Still doing my research on what species to target in SoCal.

Good catch !
But watch out ! These dragon spin and turn when on board.

I also caught a legal lingcod 2 days ago, after got it on board.
It spin the second dropper loop hook into my Knee !

I had to hammer it to death so I can get that hook out ! Ouch !!

Lings will no longer be your staple catch, but you can look forward to Calico bass and yellowtail.
