What happened to the stripers?
Back in the 60's when I used to fish off piers F&G planted a bunch of baby stripers along the coast with the idea that they would spawn during years of heavy rain run-off. We caught a lot of juveniles off the piers in those days. I quit fishing piers in the mid 70's so I don't know when they disappeared but I don't hear about anybody catching stripers along the coast now. Are they still out there or was the plan a bust?

I'll hear about the occasional one being caught up and down the coast every few years, but nothing more than a handful in the past 5 years.

I got one in the surf last weekend, but that was all the way up in Monterey.
