Dirty pedro butts
Went out today hoping for my first butt of the year since last one got off at the gaff a few weeks ago.... Bait report called for 5-7" dines so I wouldn't bother making bait because you guys know I'm lazy. When I get there the sardines are barely pushing 3"... I was kinda pissed. I made one greenback on a small bait ball... Saved it for later. Came up on good looking spot. First drop in a dine I get a cuda.... Next drop instant short calico.... No more for another hour or so... I switch to the greenback that's probably been going to town on those dines. Finally I can use a trap rig... I trolled that guy up an down for like 2 hours with nada.... He looked beat up so I cut him lose with a new poop hole... Switch back to the baby dines and get another calico shortly.... So I decided to stick it out and forget making more greens ... Then I get the bite I been waiting for while I was talking to these guys throwing swim baits off their boat... I knew it was the right kind ... It meets the gaff but while I was gonna clip it, it jumps hard and off the gaff I thought I lost it. It runs straight to the bottom but hook and line still good... Second gaff get it on the yak...came in at 31"... About 11lbs on my scale I'm good for a few weeks looking for butts .. Im ona few beers so excuse my typos if there's any...

Awesome catch Yakjoe! !!!
One of the reasons I hate using small bait is because of the bi-catch.
