Went climbing a couple weekends ago. I always fish the refuge in the afternoon after climbing since it is right there. LO is fishing really well IMO. Nymphing this time of year on LO when there are dry fly possibilities always produces the bigger fish.
Favorite combo: stimulator with olive hares ear Hoping to hit the upper in a couple weeks. My buddy reported killing it up there on the streamers. thetroutfly is always pretty good for reports.

Was up there this weekend, 2 feet of snow Saturday and insane winds Sunday night on the way home, saw a semi truck laying on its side on the highway.....
Love that place. |

Awesome, that looks like a blast.
Thinking of doing this on Saturday but need to be home (OC) by 9pm. How long does it take to drift / paddle leisurely from Hwy 6th bridge to Line St.? |

We did it that year as an up and back, leaving HB at 4 am and getting home at midnight...........that was crazy! You can drift it in about 3 hours, but you will want to stop at the productive areas, so we spent about 8 hours on that section

Thanks for the additional info. Wow, unfortunately, I can't do that 4am to midnight marathon. I'd fall asleep on the drive there and back. I'll need to plan this out better but it's something I'm dying to do.
Thanks again! |

If you don't have time now... come up to the Sierras later in the season and try Rush Creek in the June Lake Loop. It's a fun little float and has lots of trout and crawdads. The creek starts off with some pretty heavy cover, then opens up to a wide shallow creek... I'll be up there the last week of May at Silver Lake Campground...company is welcome. WOW Andy...that's an Iron Man marathon from HH to Bishop and back in one day...!!!
