San Vincente Re-Opens Next Week!
Well, next week on the 5th San Vincente Res. will re-open after 7 years of raising the dam a 100 ft and since it was closed that means 7 years of un-interupted spawning. I have some buddies who have been working on it since the beginning and say it's very impressive.
I'm not in town so double check, but if your up for a local change to fresh water fishing for a day it sounds like it has some potential. No anglers except poachers for SEVEN YEARS! |

Very Exciting. I love San V.
My dad used to drop me off there in the early morning before I could drive and I would ask boaters to drop me and my float tube off. I would spend the rest of the day kicking back to the launch and catching fish. Should be pretty productive! |

I can tell you it was a long walk up and over the hill to sneak in their at night back in the day I also used to deliver ice to all the SD Lakes and hated taking my ice truck up that hill. Nothing like having 4 pallets with 2000 pounds of ice each tipping toward the rear door. One trip I had a guy pop his clutch in front of me and his boat was not strapped to the trailer and ended up on the road........East County Goodness.

Here's a phone # . The County Water Authority's toll-free information line is 877-426-2010. If they are gonna open on the 5th they sure are keeping it a quite affair. Bite should be excellent and it has a pretty wide variety of species. |

I think they mentioned on SDFish that once it opens its going to be like Barrett and you'll have to purchase a spot off Ticketmaster. No tourney fishing for the first 3 months. Now the 5th was the original date back in the day. It may not open till the beginning of the YT. I've been talking to a cpl game rangers and the local tackle shops and no one knows anything.
Here's a post from SDFish http://sdfish.com/news/freshwater-fi...before-spring/

I used to rent a boat, row to the island and rock hop stitching night crawlers. GREAT bass fishing! One day I hear this "swish...swish...swish..." and I'm like what the...? There's a deer passing right by me in the water swimming to the island. I wonder if that island is now completely underwater. EPIC!!! Jim
