Other than nets, whats basic gear to get for lobster catching??

I saw Team Sewer had a pulley system for reeling in the nets? Where can I get those?

Also what your recommendations for rod holders?

(2) Lobster Gauges, Drake Pucks, (2) headlamps, Thick Gloves

Don't really need a pulley system unless your going deep.

Lobster gauges(plural, not singular)
Headlamp - I found out recently how critical this item is to hooping at night
Kayak light
Gloves - I use these, they will last me all season.
Bait tubes - You can buy these for about $15 each or spend $20-$30 at Home Depot and make 5 of them in your garage.
Puller - Buy it.

Yup $15 a pop for these.... made 5 with enough material to make 2-3 more for $11.

Don't forget waders. Pulling rope gets wet.

LED glow sticks...light the shit out of your floats.

A can of cat food in each net along with bait cage / puck.

And of course a good IPA to enjoy between pulls.

You can get the pulley at OEX or online if they don't have it.

Scotty 749 Trap-Ease Roller, it is called. It requires a mounting base. Scotty 244 for flush mount is what I use.

I use it at the pier and I love them. Of course I am not as young as I used to be. I like to use any mechanical advantage in doing things where I can.

I bring most of the same stuff for day trips:
PFD
Radio
knife
fishing pole to make bait
cotton towels (do dry hands and mop up deck)
leashes

No pully used here.

I need better gloves. my hands are swollen and red due to the lobster scratches and pokes.

Mo the drake pucks are a clever bait delivery system . about $4 for a complete puck. I'm using 4 inch.

fill both sides with bait and the green slips into the white. Bait all cozy in the "puck" and in the net.

i run with 6 pucks. Keep one baited and ready. pull, extract extremely big bugs, reload puck, move/drop net, refill puck... repeat.

Keeps seals away and prevents the bugs from "dining and dashing" before you pull the net.
