securing your livewell/baittank
I built a little vittlevault bait tank, now I'm toying with different ways to secure it to the tankwell in my Tarpon.
How do you guys do it? Bungees? Ratchet straps? Also, thinking of putting padeyes on the top of the tank for bungees/straps to go thru, but not sure if the tank wall is thick enough to hold the screws. Anyone done this with any luck?

If you back the pad eye hardware with a washer or backing plate it doesn't matter how thick the bait tank walls are.

Use fender washers on both sides of the tank walls for strength, they also make large plastic washers that will work.

Buy a set or two of these. Use a short stainless screws like a 3/4" or 1/2" 8/32 with a flat and a fender washer along with a nyloc nut. Can't beat the versatility and cost. Can't build anything cheaper that's better. |
