They're still here....
Launched at the jewel around 630 today. Straight to the pier for all the greenies we wanted then out over the canyon. Tons of birds chasing micro bait. Tons of bonito.
My buddies first time on the kayak in lj and he hooks into a dam tuna. Before I realized what was happening we had 25-30# fish boiling around the yaks. Tried to chunk a greenie quickly to get them to stay but to no avail. I could clearly see 10 or so fish about 15 ft down. Definitely bft! He fought it for 8 minutes then it chewed through his 25# flouro leader. Saw the school two more times jumping around us but not touching our perfect mini macs... We chunked for 45 minutes with no love. Picked up a bonus for my buddies first H&L caught yt and first from the yak. 32" fork length about 12# g&g. See you fellas otw tomorrow! That is some amazing good luck on the first kayak fishing trip to LJ. Certainly going to be the most memorable fishing trip for some time. Congrats to your buddy, on hooking up the BFT but mostly on his first Kayak Yellow. Tight Lines
