Got to the launch at 5:30. Lots of others setting up. Easy launch. Worked hard making bait and finally caught 2 Spanish. Conditions didnt look great at the kelp line. Greenish water and current flowing out. So Headed NW for a few miles. Saw a few spots of bait and terns but no action. Paddled SE to off the NW point and back to the kelp line. Big schools of smelt were all along the kelp but nothing was after them. I got a hook up out in front of the condo. A 2 lb yellow tail. Say what? Haven't seen one this small in years. Sent baby back to moma ocean and cut strait thru the kelp to the launch. Mike

Nice release. The fish were out there... a bit further. Bait was easier to make on the corner yesterday.

If you held the fish closed to the camera it would look like 2.5 pounds.
Good effort and thanks for the report.
