40-42lb yellowtail, you be the judge
New guy at work is on a travel assignment from Alabama and has been wanting to get out fishing on the west coast so I took him out on the boat. We fished Catalina and the fishing was much slower at the island than it has been. Picked up a few rat yellows that we tossed back, a bonito and a cuda. Threw them all back and earned some awesome karma points I guess. We picked up a nice 15lber and then the next setup we hooked a monster fish that was taking out line like nothing I have seen so far. Video starts about 6 minutes into the fight after using the boat to bring in a lot of line.
DFG was at the ramp and weighed it at 42lbs with a spring scale. It weighed 40lbs on my digital scale that I weigh all my fish with and therefore I call it 40lbs. Its an awesome experience to get people new to fishing out there and catching fish! You think he'll move out here permanently now?
