Paying my dues

launched at 6am
landed 7pm
didn't make bait close in
never found bait out deep

lots of radio fish
I paddled away from them straight off
oh well
bite was 5-8am

pretty cool just to have the chance
next time

garmin basecamp says 16 mi total
funny how the last 2 mi seemed to take forever

No one said it was easy.
Thanks for the paddle report anyway. At least 8 yaks I saw were out in the zone Sat for nothing but sharks AFAIK. We did find some patties so that was a nice change.
Plus side the bait was great n easy. Negative just another nature loop. I may end up w more empty miles this year than the rest put together. Still time on the calendar.

Tuna fishing is a real challenge on a kayak. When I was blessed to have a great fishing boat, I would cover huge amounts of water before finding tuna. Once found, it was amazing how concentrated they were. Drift out of the area and it was like a desert. Fishing tuna north of Mex is even more difficult since the fish are on the move and you need tons of bait to stop 'em. That may change with an El Nino. Looking forward to some fun trips in late Aug, Sept, and October catching yellowfin close to shore. In the meantime, guess we will just have to be happy catching 25 lb yellowtail locally....

...and saying bad things under our breath about the successes of some.
You know who you are!

I did see the biggest mako so far for me. Saw it through a wave riding right at me. Easy twice my girth. It sank and disappeared before it tboned me but it was 2 sec of wtf anxiety. I needed my sacrificial gabe to draw them off.

Hey I was off the water, there should not have been any sharkies nearby.

I'll be camping at sano this weekend and may try a session

Having a lil trouble mailing them back to the company, the USPS says it's hazardous waste.
