La Jolla 7/24
Wanted to get one more fishing trip in before my wife gives birth some time next week. Launched around 700, made a bait tank full of Spanish by 800. Pinned one on started the troll south. I was fishing blind (no FF/GPS) so based off of landmarks I got picked up as I was passing the second condo. Fish goes straight into the kelp, I get on top of him pretty quickly, start pumping and sawing away. As soon as I realize I'm getting my ass kicked he breaks free. Get him to color and Mrs. sea lion shows up on scene. Got him on deck about 930 and the sea lion moves on. Thankful to have gotten one on what will most likely be my last trip for a while, I start the trip back to the launch. Stopped by some cool dudes and traded remaining bait for a OTW shot. Landed safely, and back in Oceanside by noon.

Nice fish and good luck with the new little one when he/she comes! It might be a while before you're back at it, after my last one I think 6 months was my downtime.

Let em sleep....
You will now look forward to having your kid sleep through the night. It's the first milestone in resuming "normal" life. OH...nice fish too...congrats.
