First yellow finally
Started the day at 530am made bait. was hard getting greenbacks but macks where ez to come by..
Trolled to the fishing grounds had a few hits along the way but just killed my bait...so because I was losing bait I would stop and make more along the way. was hooked up to a huge mackerel and notice a rat yellow following it to the yak so i kept it in the water and the yellow hit the Sabiki. I now had a big mack and a rat yellow on ten lbs test got em both to the yak. Kept going and hooked up to something huge battled it for a few mins and then it ran to the kelp tried my best to get it out but this was on my 65lbs mono setup after about 5 min in the kelp it broke me off....I was pissed off and never picked up that setup again...got another big mack and put it on my 30lbs braid setup about two minutes later my reel is screaming. Gave me a good lil ride and then went to the kelp this time I was ready as soon as it started getting tangled I backed off the drag and the kelp just started popping get it to color and it makes another good run.. Finally get it to the yak and get a nice gaff shot under the jaw... Best day iv had on the water in a long time my new bait tank was well worth the money to make it... Side note all my reels are going to be getting braid now 😔 sent from my G4 on tapatalk app Last edited by yak-fishing-socal; 07-21-2015 at 05:35 PM. |

Very nice. Well deserved. Braid does the trick every time! That 30lb braid setup still seems a little "light". What setup were u running the 30lb on?
