8/2 am LJ

Launched at 5am, broke with my normal routine and went to the pier to see if I could have better luck at making bait. Big surprise, no luck. Made my way across the canyon, even though the seas were like a sheet of glass, I didn't see any bait or sign of fish. Went straight out from the launch to about 2.66 miles out dropping and throwing the 6x salas jr. 1 incidental catch of a nice rockfish, enough for fish taco's for the family tonight, saw what might of been a solo mako cruising the surface, got close enough to throw the iron around it but he wasn't interested in the scrambled egg!
It was really nice on the water this morning too bad no action.

Thanks for the report. Nice rocky. I haven't had much luck with those things this year, only gotten midgets.

The pier light was off this morning I found bait on the canyon edge in 75-85 ft. as many spanish mackeral as you need.

Once the sun came up, several patches of bait began puddling. I parked myself on top of one the bigger balls of bait and just kinda drifted and moved with the bait.

No signs of big fish.
