La Jolla Report 9-17-14

Took the future father in-law and bride to be out fishing off the yaks at la jolla on wednesday.
i'm pretty confident that i picked the right girl. she out fished her father and me.

all in all, three yellow tail that went 14, 20, & 24 lbs. two bonito both in the 5lbs range. (one released) and farmed 5 yellows.

lots of dogs, lots of bait. all fish were caught with green backs fly lined in 100 ft of water. water temp hit 75 by noon.

only bummer part about the whole trip was the lost rod and reel. (p series newell 229) father in law lost it rolling in the surf on the landing. live and learn.

Very nice! My wife loves to fish too, you two will have a long lasting marriage. My wife and I have been married 15 years and we still fish together at least once a week. Maybe not from a kayak every week ... we do lots of surf fishing, but fishing nonetheless. Looks like you got a winner!

Oh yeah and nice catch

That's a great video! I'd play that at the wedding reception. Congrats and even better to have the Dad there too!

I'm pretty stoked. It was going to be one of those make it or break it days on the water. If she didn't get a fish, i don't think she would have come back out. But now that she's got the two yellows she'll be itching for more time on the water.
It was cool to have her dad out there. just wish he would have landed his. He hooked up twice but drag was too tight and 30 lbs mono broke off both times.
maybe i give him the 40 lbs stuff next time.
good luck fishing guys.
