Mission Bay, 8-25-14

Launched from Ski Beach at 6:45. Cloudy skies and pretty much no breeze. Water was 71º+, clear with lots of loose eel grass. Wind did pick up around 8:00 or 8:30.

Started off with 3 fish right off the bat, maybe 20 yards from the ramp. I stayed close for over an hour and picked away at the spotties using 5" Redbone Paddlerz. Eventually moved to a dropoff I like, switched to a 3" Greenback Flurry and whacked 'em for 20min. I got 10 spotties (3 legal) in that time, then it shut off like a light switch. Didn't find another fish until 10:15 when I picked up 7 more in a 1/2 hour. Those 7 came within 30 yards of the launch. Hot Sauce for flavor as always. Called it quits at 10:45 with 28 spotties and a short Halibut. Had to meet a friend for lunch.

Super fun day, but I wish Steve had been there.

When I talked to him the other day he was doing ok, but really tired. I called him earlier, but haven't heard back. I'll keep you posted.

Bummer Dennis. I'm indifferent about Tidelands. I've had more slow days than good ones. I do like fishing the bridge supports though. I always seem to find a few on those.
