June 23 Newport

Hit the water about 6:00 am started with the docks on the north side and managed to pick up 2short spotties with the wind picking up and the tide dead managed 2 more shorts. Left Ed fishing the channel and moved over to one of my favorite moored boats that used to be producing and found 8 on legal spotties the biggest measuring almost 19" the wind blew and we got off the water by 11:00 am very productive morning

7 legals and 5 shorts for me. That wind was a pain in the butt. I'd finally get a drift I could work with and it would shift. New Penny was the bait yet again. Good fishing with you Steve.

I'd have gone outside in search of OPAH!............or maybe.....

Quote:
I was out with Decker this morning-- coming back from the Pipe around 9 am the bait boat-Pamula Rose/ Corey- says he's just ran over a marlin 1/2 off the harbor entrance-- we looked for a shore while -water looked good, some bait 68/69
He off loaded his bait back at the receiver (I think squid as he was coming in from the island)-- went back out at 10am-- spotted it again same place, had a better look at it-- not a marlin but a 100 lb Swordfish up -- sat there watching it for awhile- the Aggressor- comes by-- they toss a bait on it and gets bit-- falls off after 30 / 45 sec-!- Stand By--

A 19" spottie, that's huge!! Andy should start
that Biggest Bass Thing!!

I'll bet you would have caught more, if, you
had your trusty sunglasses.

(I wonder if they work good for yellowtail fishing???)

Nice work guys. I miss fishing Newps with you. Newps has been tough for me the last several times I fished it in tournaments. WTG.

Thanks Matt. Good to see that you still come by. I sometimes follow you on BD's Bass Report board.
