19 MAR 2014 LJ report

Well hit LJ today, got into the water around 0630. Made my way out and got bait shortly after crossing the Border. I worked the area out from the condo building around 100-120 ft. I got a couple rock fish and a sculpin. I moved over to this kelp pad that was about 15-20 ft round. I did some Yo-Yo just for practice to figure out how fast to reel. After that I went around the Kelp. Then my fly lined pacific mack takes a hit. I couple of hard taps. At first I thought it was a dog messing with my bait. I reeled up the line and then it got heavy and thats when the fight was on. He took off towards the kelp but I made sure he didn't get in there. This was my second time to LJ. Beginners luck I guess. After that I headed in and was at my truck by 1030.
He came in at 29.5 lbs. Got him weighed at Dana Landing.

Nice work! Don't sell yourself short man. There may be some luck involved but you were in the right place, time and had the proper presentation. Good job!

Thanks everyone, when I got to this site I was reading a lot to learn about fishing in SoCal waters. I also picked the brains of those BWE members I have met.
