Raymarine Dragonfly?

Is anyone running this FF? I am finally in the market for a new FF along with a new yak. I have the yak picked out but im still researching what FF to get any opinions? I am down to the Raymarine dragonfly and the Lowrance Elite 5 HDI.

The Dragonfly is running CHIRP technology (Compressed High Impact Radar Pulse). It's basically sweeping through multiple frequencies at the same time. From what I've heard, all of the brands are moving to this starting this spring. Lowrance has already started lowering pricing on their current models in anticipation...so I've heard

I've heard from a friend of a friend of a friend that is not real effective over 150 ft no matter how the xducer is mounted. Anyone have firsthand knowledge?

I'm currently running it and I think it works pretty damn well. Getting used to it still but I think it is worth the money and the structure reads very well on it.

50/200/455/800 ducer? Or the 83/200? And where is it mounted? Readings can be greatly improved with direct water mount such as this

I don't have a PA, but I know the 50 is significantly larger. I've owned both of those lowrance ducers.

I could be wrong

I went to bass pro and matched up the 50 to the bottom cover of lowrance ready bracket . It did not look like it was gonna happen. Now that I spent a small fortune on the yaks , they will probably come out with a new version next year that will accommodate the down scan and larger transducers , possibly the dragonfly . . It never ends . I did buy an extra cover from dealer for 8 bucks give or take , and jig sawed it out , so the down scan has a direct view . I will take a few pictures and post , has anyone else done this ? Basically I have no degradation of signal .

You are WRONG!

50/200 transducer mounts just fine in the Lowrance ready slot.
