Gonzaga Bay Nov. 14th-18th 2013 open invite
UPDATE- Unfortunately we have to cancel this trip due to government shutdowns and me not realizing the Baja 1000 is during the same week and will be using the portions of the road from san felipe down through and past Gonzaga bay (it`s going to be a zoo!). I have access to the cabin for other trips so we may be able to reschedule.
Sorry for any inconvenience This is a trip we have been planning for a few weeks but just got confirmation on the dates. I have access to a friend`s beach cabin to serve as a base camp. The cabin sleeps up to 8 people but there is plenty of room for beach camping if more people want to go. So far the following people are confirmed- Mainline Makobob bpagentkastoll The plan is to leave San Diego Thursday nov. 14th in the afternoon and return Monday the 18th (after a quick morning fishing session) There is a store and restaurant in the area so basic supplies are available. species I have personally have caught in the area include: yellowtail gulf and leopard grouper white sea bass totoaba (protected) orangemouth and shortfin corvina hogfish barred pargo sierra mackeral pompano lady fish various sharks bonefish flag, ribera and spotted cabrilla triggerfish halibut spotted bay bass gold spotted sand bass cortez barracuda jacks huachinango (true red snapper) rose spotted snapper and a few I had no idea what to call them. anyways if anyone is interested in going post here. Baja or bust! Last edited by Mainline; 10-16-2013 at 03:36 PM. |

I put ink on the calender and I am looking forward to this trip. Taking dive gear and spear for added adventure. 51 days and counting.

gonzaga info
I have received a couple inquiries in regards to cost and transportation for this trip so hopefully this will help.
As of right now our vehicle is full. People who are interested in either driving or willing to pitch in for gas can discuss it here in hopes of getting a carpool going to cut down on expenses. The cabin is free so you would only need to cover fuel, food and drinks for yourselves. Gonzaga bay is approximately 350miles from san diego going through the imperial valley (which is the way we`re going) This can be a VERY affordable 5 day trip in baja if we all get on the same page. We have 3 in our vehicle and are figuring on $100 per person in fuel. If you have any other questions or tackle recommendations let me know. This trip is on! Baja or Bust! |
