More White Sea Bass than you could shake a stick at!!!
The future for the White Sea Bass Bite in Dana Point is AWESOME! AT least that's how it seems considering the fact that I couldn't put bait in the water today without pulling up a little Juvie WSB. Nothing over 18 inches but they were thick as lizard fish.
The swell in DP today was HUGE and the current was heading in the opposite direction so the sea was wacky today. Current running south to north, swell running north to south. Lots of small calico bass as well. Also had a couple really solid strikes at the mouth of the harbor while soaking a chovie on a carolina rig but couldn't quite get a hook set. I need to work on my technique or my set up or both..

timely report
. sounds like a good day on the water . looks like i got into kayak fishing at just about the right time , with these species making a come back , mainly due to the gill net ban . not to mention the halibut and the records being shattered . good report .

nice going out there. maybe try a trap rig on the chovie at the mouth of the harbor. instead of a treble hook though, just use another single hook. it helped me out a ton on short bites from big fish.
