notices of kayaks demo days?
Sorry to inundate the forum with newbie questions, but I've got one more ...
I had hoped to find a posting or link to any kayak demo days in the SoCal area, but can't seem to find any. Any retailers out there planning to host any in-water demos??? Last week I spoke with a really helpful guy in the San Diego OEX store who had some great info, but didn't mention if they planned to have any. With a lead he gave me to their OK rep, I've been trying to demo a Torque, but with no success. And tomorrow I'm going to spend $40 to try 3 kayaks in Newport Harbor; seems like demos should be free to interested buyers, but they're not! Anywhere I can find any planned in-water events???? Thanks again! |

For Hobies, call Fast Lane Sailing Center in San Diego. I demo'd back in December and they did not charge me. Good luck!

You would be getting ripped off paying $40 to demo. I would stay away from that outfit. Since u r in Oside any and all kayak / info can be found right here. lets just say "the buck stops here". Good luck............

Demo days are't usually scheduled until the weather is more consistently warm. Most Kayak shops are near the ocean an will let you demo "SOME" of them.
The more expensive ones you'll have to wait for an outdoor fair located in or near a lake/marina. Contact the manufacturer to see where/when their next demo fair around the L.A. Area is (you'll have to call around). In Marina Del Rey, try Action sports @ 4144 Lincoln blvd. Then there's Taylor Kayaks near the Venice Costco on Venice Blvd.. Afraid that's all I got. Hope it helps. FFY |

Hey Jarrod - VERY generous offer, thank you! I'll PM you; I actually had considered the Cuda 14
@ FlyFishinYakr - I didn't know that; I'll keep my eyes peeled then through May @MrAlbacore - That's who I'm paying tomorrow for demos! They apparently don't do free demos for prospective buyers; it's costing me $40 to try three kayaks; I guess the only good thing about paying to demo a boat is, I feel no obligation/loyalty whatsoever to buy from them, I'll pay to try, then get the best deal I can somewhere else. Thanks for all the great feedback! This site is really very cool. |
