For a gray scale ff I would probably go with EAGLE CUDA 350 or the LOWRANCE MARK-4.But if you want to go with color expect do dish out some more moolah. If your not in a hurry wait a lil' bit for black Friday, you should be able to get a good deal on one.

Eagle 350 is what I have, works great once you have it dialed in. It took me a while to get mine dialed in but now that I do I can see a 2oz torpedo sinker bouncing off the bottom in 50+ feet of water without an issue. Like Firstgen said, if you want to go with color expect to dish out a lot more. If you're tight on money go with a unit like the 350, once you've gained experience on how to read a sonar screen you can move up to something better. I've had my 350 for a while now, as soon as it goes out my plan is to get an HD unit with multiple Khz setting and also has the option of installing other brands of transducers.

350 s/map is not in production, but they can be found. I like it over the Mark 4 because the split screen is vertical. Mark 4 is supposed to be a great unit though.
