Shelter Island - Sunday 10/7
So I finally have something decent to post for a fishing report. I headed south to the Shelter Island Launch Ramp at around 5 and was in the water by 6. This was my first adventure in my Kayak in the big bay, the day started slow but then I found some great structure and the bite was on!
I ended up catching 2 Spotties(1 Legal, 1 Keychain size Spotty), 5 Sculpin and hooking a decent size Halibut. Lost the Halibut on the run but it was a fun fight. I was able to pull it to the surface but had to let it run before my Pole snapped in half. The most satisfying thing was that everything was caught on 3in. swim bait. NO BAIT!! At least this trip I was able to bring fish home and my wife will be believe me when I say I am going fishing and not the bar.. |
