two very different days.... Tue and Fri
Wow, one day, red hot, and one day, just not.
Awesome, epic: Tuesday, plenty of squid, and I finally got the lucky results. Wow, an amazing day of crystal clear water, the clearest I have seen in probably 15 years of doing this. Rays, dolphins, and after an hour of no squid for pretty much anyone, like 6-7am, they started biting, and I caught at least 20 squid. Hooray, a good start. Then time for fishing...... oh yes, finally the success.... my first bite, and then the first YT this season.... 29 pounds.... and no frickin' seal (although there were MANY earlier, and I heard one, I was left alone by the cursed furry devils) and pulled out to sea! Not to the kelp! Hooray! Then I figure, wow, made my day, my week, my month, etc... well, got plenty squid, may as well drop another down. Start getting bites after about a half hour and then..... 55 pounds! And nowhere to fit it in my kayak! Gotta put in my lap and head straight to shore! So, take my two sons and head out today on our powerboat, Friday..... well, no squid, no sun, no clarity, nothing at all.... just another sloooooooow day at sea. Amazing, that is why I so much prefer the kayak. On the yak I saw sooooo much more, and it was way more fun. Cheers all... very good dinner tonight! And I like to BBQ the squid just as much.... baste in teriyaki, very tasty! I love what we have here, and just gotta appreciate those rare special days like Tuesday was..... here one day, gone the next. I appreciate every bite and the wonderful fish and the memories. |
