LJ 12/14 AM: When you wish upon a star...

Got to the launch at 5:00am to find a sloppy looking high tide. Took off in the dark through what I thought were 1 footers, only to see a black wall form in front of me. Plowed through a couple soakers but made it out. Must be a meteor shower because I saw a half dozen shooting stars. Only one of my wishes came true...

pics to follow

I saw the shooting stars, I said to myself "I wish upon a shooting star, to catch a fish as big as my car". Caught a 12" sand bass and a 15" bonita. Beautiful weather, no jacket required after sunrise. Clear/greenish water past 80' deep, lots of grass, kelp, and scum, in shallower water.

Are you saying that a "star wish" trumps a "birthday wish"?

Patrick make it out? Happy Birthday ESDEES and can't wait to see a pic of the big one, hopefully a less flaccid state than the F'n ones of late.

Now you'll need a 50# halibut, 50#WSB, and a 61#YT . Go get 'em. I hear it's going to be a lovely weekend to fish.

31lb YT, caught on bait in one of the winter time spots.

Sorry about the wardrobe malfunction.

My first YT since September. I told Patrick that my heart was racing like a virgin on her wedding night as that thing towed me around, it had been so long. On the trap rig, no less, with weak ass gamakatsu octopus hooks. Kept the drag real loose and took my time. Fish had me thinking white at first since it took one run and hunkered down on the bottom. Never really got in that tail thumping stalemate that would be typical for a fish this size. Not very long but thick. Nothing in the belly.

If it takes a dog in the tent to catch a wsb so be it.

Nice fish Brad! 24 months of WCW tails. You have until May to figure out the whole shark thing.

Well...

you didn't really have to do that to the rest of us miserable souls secretly hoping to catch up...

Congrats, beautiful fish. :king:

Any chance the work will take you back to the East Coast for a few years?
