I beat a seal
With my paddle as it tried to eat my fish bleeding on the game clip , then kicked it on its forehead.
I don't feel bad at all. Thinking of rigging a boning knife to a stick.

Highly illegal, but what are you gonna do? Being nitpicky I know, but it was probably a sea lion. It's a pet peeve of mine, sorry. I like seals, hate sea lions.

Ya, young sealion. And actually there was a law published that in self defense you could use deadly force against a sea lions, but I guess it stealing a fish isn't really self defense lol.

I had to club one of those black birds with the long necks over the head with my paddle. He was following me around trying to take my bait. I hate those things.

Yeah. I know the YTs that have been coming out of LJ have been monstrous...
I finally recalled the bag that my cousin had. It was the Sea Angler fish bag and I think it would be long enough for most species targeted via kayaks. Sea Angler 65" x 20" Off Shore Fishing Bag If there's enough demand, maybe the board sponsors will decide to carry it. I agree that keeping the sight and smell of food away from wildlife is the probably the best course of action. |

What????
I made the mistake of checking the site and my oh my, what do I see, heckling and harrassment for sharing. Where are the Mods? I see several posters above that need to be banned for at least a week. Are we enforcing the no heckling, bullying, right to post philosophy or not? Andy, Adi, where are you guys???? Selective enforcement of the new policy does not work, consistency does. |

i think it turned south once he mentioned strapping a knife to the end of a pole (which would be for stabbing the sea lion obviously). Oh wait...are you being sarcastic? I cant tell stupid internet

The best option here is to just make the thread go away...

I have countless run ins with various types of sea life that has needed to be deterred, I dont believe in harming it but if the need arises to use force to protect myself I will. Try taking a 8 year old out on a tandem and having a seal jump on the back not once but twice, both times I shot it with a paintball marker in the side and it came back. I had to radio the harbour patrol for assistance, at which point they actually tied the seal to their boat an towed it away from us. every time I tag a seal with the paint ball marker I don't feel bad at all either.

Don't you know you're supposed to talk it out with the wildlife? Next time, you tell that animal what it has done wrong, how it's violating your personal space, and that you too would like to eat the catch you worked so hard for. Being perfectly reasonable I'm sure the creature will recognize the error of it's ways, apologize and go on about it's day. After all, when two wild animals go head to head over food they tend to take into account each others feelings, have a good long debate about the morality of their intentions and eventually come to a joint resolution that suits both their needs...
That's how it goes, right? |
