LJ...tough but producing

Hi guys,
Been around a while but as a diver. See many of you at the launch, talk with some, and exchange info. with others. I love getting fish stories here and gather a bit of intel. as well. Thought I would reciprocate.

LJ has been really tough the last couple of weeks, kelp is always down and the wind is up when I'm out in the afternoons. This is tough for us (divers). Anyways, water is blue, fairly warm, and there are some slobs closer to home than you might think. This one came from a school of beasts just on the fringe of the kelp. Last night.

I attached a picture of my little rig, I'm always game to share info. and let you know what I'm seeing down below.

36lbs... and made me earn it...tied up all over the bottom despite my best efforts to put the brakes on.

Hey, Are those 2 Steve Alexander guns in your rack? Is he still alive? I haven't seen him in a long, long time.

there's a bit of a learning curve and you really have to put your time in. It would be the same way if I decided start H&L'ing from my kayak....it's funny because people on the beach see you come in with a big fish and think it's easy..........they don't pay attention to me all the times I come home skunked

Not Alexander, they are custom. However, Alexanders were used quite a bit for ideas. It's his trigger and handle on the two. He's still around last I heard. He spoke at a SD Freedivers meetings maybe 3 years ago.

Stoked! Nice quiver too....
You should think about heading up to Cardiff, which is still fair game for spears. I think you'd make quick business of a slightly tastier and whiter variety of "slob".....

thanks for the heads up....

Yes, gut shot....not my best shot, that was the exit wound, it was a little better on the other side

As for my arsenal.........I'm sure you guys only have one rod each
As I tell my wife, "there is no one gun for all fish, you need to have a variety to accommodate all types of fish and conditions"

thanks guys, glad you enjoyed the fish porn.
