Anyone here go out of Newport?
Hey everyone. I know there's a big La Jolla crowd here but I'm new to the kayak fishing scene and wanted to know if any of you guys go out of Newport Harbor. My kayak is stored in Newport so that's where I will be launching from. Taking my Outback out tomorrow to get a feel of it and I might do some fishing as well. Let me know if I can join you.

I think the 2nd biggest crowd would be for us Newport heads.

Welcome to the boards. Fishing inside the harbor is always fun, also a good place to 1st start kayak fishing. Load up on various types of swimbaits, small metal jigs, or even drift live bait. Tons of bass, halibut, occasional barracudas all swim around that harbor.
Then once youre ready for bigger fish & deeper waters, head outside the harbor. Good luck!
