San Clemente Island
I'm going over to work on San Clemente Island for a couple of weeks in December. For some reason, they're not letting me bring my kayak. Anyone have any knowledge that they're willing to share for shore fishing over there? Thanks in advance.

When I went on the Mother ship trip on the Islander earlier this year. I landed several nice calicos to 7+ lbs just a few feet from shore. I also lost some nice ones as well. Just cast swimbaits into the white wash around the rocks. I don't have any info on targeting pelagics from the shore but maybe fly lining a mac underneath a balloon when the wind is blowing off shore I've seen it in videos so it must work.

I think the halibut can go in pretty tight to shore over there.

Kurt,
They have 4 rigged Malibu Pro Explorers in Wilson Cove down by the pier. You may be able to borrow one. |

Kurt,
I have a good fishing friend who is a captain in the federal fire dpt over there-10 days on and 10 days off-Skip Wilkinson-Look him up and tell him Dave Easton said to take you fishing or show you where to go. I think they have a dock and a boat they use over there. Skip knows all the Calico spots and that island is loaded with toad bass
Good luck! Let me know what happens. The bass get very shallow over there. Dave

Kurt, If you have it bring your free diving gear. The diving over there is epic and the hunting even better.
