LJ Vets Day

Hit the launch about 5:45 to some tricky swell. It was 3-4 pretty clean, long enough intervals. I timed it wrong, and had a barrel pound 5 ft in front of my bow. Was able to pound through the white water. Headed out to the kelp...yes kelp, water looked clean just of the point, nice blue, with spiraling healthy kelp. Made a few Spanish macks, one hi, one low.

Worked the Iron for a couple of hours for nada... Lots of lobster buoys, reminded me of a YT I lost last year. I decided to head north to work the bottom. Ran into Soulwinner, good seeing you John. There was a big paddy in the water, I was hoping some dorado would be under it. I have the numbers if you want them... :P

Surf was up next to the pier, and all the way to the launch. This is as about as close as I wanted to get, big rollers were coming through.

Surf at the launch had some nice rollers, but manageable, kind of messy. Lights winds all morning, picked up slightly around 10am. There was a scarcity of bait, I didn't find any at the pier, even John said he had to look elsewhere. Finally, there was a sewage smell at the launch upon landing, and the water looked brown.

Video's of PM shift launch...

Cool report Chris. :afro:

We need them Baja waves... :shaking2: we need some training.

I feel for the guy that rolled. I don’t know what he was thinking when he kind of stopped paying attention. :cyclopsani:

I think you’re freaking people out with that camera. :shaking:

Safety 1st!!! :safe:

I paddled north and ran into the halibut master....Soulwinner ( thanks John).

He passed off two baits.

I lost one on a snag on the bottom.

I caught a four foot leopard with the other.

I never did find any bait.

Nice afternoon of fishing in November.

Yeah the surf was up in the p.m.
Watched 2 guys try to launch diving for bugs around 7:45. First guy just got CREAMED by a couple rollers and then taken back to the beach by a clean 4-5 footer that came from out of nowhere. His kayak was straight up the face and he got taken over the falls.
The second guy just swam his yak past the break and did o.k.
Nasty stuff out there.
