La Jolla Trip
So I have taken some much needed time off of work and my first day off, I went fishing. I paddled out to the La Jolla Kelp to see if I could catch some WSB or YT. I made bait shortly after 6:30 and stated to troll around. To my surprise the reel starts going off. I put the reel in gear and get pulled into the kelp and get busted off. Got the blood boiling, and I believe it was a WSB that I farmed out.
Rebaited and trolled again get picked up again, this time is it was about a pound Calico, released, Wiggled out of my grip before I could photo it. Paddled around some more with no love. I stopped to do some pot holing I picked up a couple of Rock fish and another Calico. I while stopped I took some photos, camera lens started to fog up but you get the idea of where I was at. While stopped in this spot I had a Black Sea Bass come check me out, guessing on the weight I would say about 100 to 150 pounds, honestly is spooked me. In the same spot I watch 2 30# WSN swim right under me literally about 5 feet under me. The Kelp is full of life. I saw YT swimming around, tons of jack smelt, jelly fish and bat rays. Sure was a pretty day out there. I didn't see many people catching anything big but it was nice to paddle out on a weekday.
