mini mothership trip
So ive been wanting to do this for a while now and it was my only day off this week, so i figured why not. My dad wanted to go shark fishing and the waves were too big to paddle to la jolla so i strapped my tarpon up on the bow. Ive been itching to catch a shark from a kayak so we started chumming and i hopped into my yak for a ride. I was fishing a torium 14 with 20lb mono and an 8ft steel leader with a live green back. I slow trolled alongside the chumslick for a while until I saw a shark coming straight for the boat. I paddle right in front of it and it picks up my baitand clicker starts screaming!! i set the hook and feel nothing, then it comes flying oout of the water like a rocket probably 7ft. It tows me around for a bit till it tires out and my dad pulls up along the side of my kayak and gaffs it. It measured out to be 5ft 7 inches. My biggest makoThat was it for me then i got into the boat again and we caught and released 3 more around 40lbs. It was fun but i wouldnt have done it alone.
