Need some setup advice...Just purchased a Diawa Saltist 30H for 110.00 :)
I just bought a saltist 30H that was on sale at Big 5; any rod recommendations for an all around set up? As of right now, I have a seeker saber 20/50 with its name on it; if any of you more experienced guys have some advice for a better setup, I'd love to hear it.

You and I must have been at the same sale. I picked up a Saltist 50 for $129 and a Sabre 30-60lb for another $40 to go with it.

Good stuff...I wanted something bigger than the Saltist 30, but I couldn't pass up the deal. I also got a Saber stroker, but paid 70.00 for Mine. Either way, I got a decent setup for around 200.00 so I cant complain. I'm guessing this will end up being a halibut rig down the road due to the fairly small spool, but It'll serve as an all around rig alongside my TLD 15 for now.

Haven't played any fish on it yet, but I can toss a tady 45 40-50 yards and Im still an amateur. Great reel |

In my opinion that saltist 30 is too big for halibut, is say its a perfect size for yellows and fish of that sort. I fish a saltist 20 for yellows and have never found it to be too small. Those sabre rods are nautical about all I use when it comes to heavier tackle can't beat 40$

Thats a great local out fit. An "all around" out fit is always a tough call though. It would fill several roles well enough. Rig it with spectra and a short leader for YT and WSB. It would also pass as a yo-yo stick. Decent bottom fishing rod too. Mike

might also see if Sport authority is having their 50% off some fishing stuff. that included Shimano Torium reels sale price of $95-105.
