Tidelands 5/20
Hit the water around 1:30, just in time for slack tide. Tried main channel first and was surprised to catch a nice sandie. Slow going until the tide started moving again. Several short strikes drifting near pylon #8. finally hooked one up and landed this nice spotty. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours.

Good to see you hooked some fish, I was in the green S14 coming in as you were about the launch.

I thought that was you. Congratulations on a successful maiden voyage. I'm hitting SI after the kids go to school today. Thinking of going to the bait barge and trying out the stealth livewell for the first time.

I can't make it back down to the bay until the weekend, only mid weeks runs I can make after work is the Carlsbad kelp beds in front of the power plant or oside harbor. What size dry box do you use for the battery? That is still the missing puzzle pc for me to get my electronics working.

Where does one launch from to get to the Carlsbad kelp areas?

I've seen some kayak right in front of the power plant (101 & Canon), on the south side of the jetty. Heard the kelp runs down to the camp grounds farther south as well. But surf is pretty small in front of the power plant, but I haven't done it yet. I'd stow my gear though just in case.
