Choosing a yak
Hey guys
This decision is haunting me, I bought a zodiac with a buddy two years ago and realized that a boat wasnt right for a college budget so it was sold returning 1k to me. Now I am just dying to own something to take me on the water. One thing that is keeping me from pulling the trigger is my need to buy a rack for my honda still. I dont want to buy a paddle style boat then wish I had bought a hobie but I am torn financially. Anyone want to chime in and just give me the courage to pay up for something. -I am leaning towards a used revo right now Oh and I am a 3rd year at UCSD, recently transferred from grossmont, so I am living in LJ |

I love my Malibu Stealth 14 but then again I don't have the funds for a Hobie.

i do believe the first mode of powering a yak was a paddle... and it worked out for centuries. only recently did people start peddling.
get a regular yak. it makes your arms and back look sexy.

Get down to OEX and try them both I have both types paddle and peddle (haha alright pedal sheesh tough crowd around here). Nothing wrong with either and well if you can't afford the hobie now maybe just get something you can afford for now and plan on upgrading later (or just add one more its nice having a spare so you can take newbie friends anyway.. Sometimes the bank account dictates no biggie just get out there!

If you think you want a hobie... Trust me you want a hobie. Hands down they make the best kayaks for fishing.
-I'll here guys shopping in oex saying " like to fish in the kelp"... -They dont like the bait tank behind them. -They like to paddle not pedal Yet they are there checking out the hobie. Price is always the main issue with hobie but you will save yourself a lot of money by getting a hobie first... There are always great deals out there probably going to be lots of cheaper revos and outbacks for sale in the near future due to the new pro angler.

If fishing is your mission, save up and get yourself some pedals. |
