Agua Hedondia QUESTION
Hey Guys, I used to be a huge contributer on the old site SDKayakfishing.com back in 2004-07 then I went off to college. I just got my boat back and am chomping at the bit to get on the water. I was wondering if anyone has fished the Agua Hedondia Lagoon recently, aka Carlsbad Lagoon. Is it still spotty city?

I fish in there a few times a week near the freeway overpass. There's lots of small bass with the occasional decent one. Right now there's some halibut too. Sometimes the fish are all biting at once and other times nothing bites at all. There's also small sharks and rays. At night BIG bat rays come through and will really take you for a ride.
Come out and say hi. I'm on a bright green Malibu Stealth. Mike |

I live on the lagoon. It's hit hard, sadly alot of people I see are keeping any fish that they catch no matter what. I have much better luck fishing the surf.
You also need to buy an annual sticker for your boat from the city at the pool. |

Well, mostly shore fisherman. Like someone pointed out, the ski boats are not too fond of kayakers it seem's . If you want to bring your kayak, paddleboard, etc... you still have to get it stickered. I saw tickets being handed out a couple weeks ago for no sticker. |

Weekends tend to be busier that's why I go during the week. Snug harbor charges a total of $13 for launch and permit. I've also noticed that alot of the boaters are assholes right now who blow through the no wake zones at full speed.

ACTUALLY disregard everything I've written in this thread... ITS ALL LIES! there aren't any fish in there and the water is so polluted that it will eat a hole in the bottom of your kayak and give you syphilis. Best bet is to stay away and go to Oceanside harbor.
