Oceanside question
I got a pass on Thursday and decided to see what kind of trouble I could get into. I cruised around about a mile outside to test my sonar relocation and didn't see much in the likes of fish.
My question is this...I came across a pile of lobster pots in an area and was wondering if there was any fishing significance to where they were? I bounced a big hammer around the area with no dice, but wanted to ask if I was sniffing around something with potential? I marked the area on my gps just in case. Oh yeah, it wasn't the artifical reef areas... |

People drop thier lobster pots near structure (rocks, dropoffs) so already you have a good holding place for fish. Add to the fact that cages full of stinky mackrel attract bait fish and scavangers which attract larger fish. Also sheephead eat crustations so can be found around lobster pots. Just know that the goats arent legal till the first

I have never seen anyone fish the area so I wanted to make sure I wasn't sniffing the wrong tree. I'll hit it again with some different bait and see what's lurking down there. Thanks for the heads up on the goats. I knew it was closed but didn't remember how close it was. |
