La Jolla - Saturday February 18th
Thresher shark catch & release:
Launched around 630am to pretty crappy conditions on Saturday Feb 18th. Big swells, wet launch, and not much bait around. Managed a few big macks and sent down a greenback in ~100ft of water. Not long after, the clicker goes off and after 40 minutes of getting towed around, I pull in a Thresher. My brother caught an 80lb thresher a couple of weeks ago, so we decided to release this one until the freezer gets emptied out. Not sure how much it weighed, but I'm guessing around 60lbs. Then continued trolling a relatively big Spanish mack, and there goes the clicker AGAIN! Another thresher! Jumps out of the water twice, and as soon as I turn on the camera, BAM Surprising number of threshers in the past couple of weeks at La Jolla. Here's a little video of the action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKggE...e_gdata_player cheers -Ash |
